Emma “Doris” Lewis Gibson, age 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 21, 2022. Born in Wilson County, NC on August 7, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Johnny Percy “J.P.” Lewis and Viola Elizabeth Bland Lewis. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Cedric Lamont Gibson; her siblings, Wesley “Buddy” Lewis, Thurman Earl “Sam” Lewis, Arthur Eugene “Buck” Lewis, Frances Jordan, Nannie “Sis” Harrell, Tucker Griffin, Nadine Fisher and Peggy Ashcroft.

Doris was a faithful and longtime attendant of Arlington Baptist Church. Even when she was not able to attend, she continued to serve the Lord thru prayer.

Doris is survived by her brother, W.F. “Billy” Lewis; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Doris’ life will be held on Monday, August 1, 2022, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Carlton Cockrell officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Chapel of Memories Mausoleum. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Doris personal caregivers, Brenda Chamblee, Calvinia Pittman, Joann Banks, and Blondell Cherry Jones for all their support and care.
