Elmer W Howell

Elmer “Tug” Watson Howell, 75, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1997. He was born Nov. 26, 1921, in Rocky Mount, son of the late William J. and Nannie Taylor Howell. He was owner of Sunset Nursery and Garden Center. Surviving: his wife of 54 years, Lucille D. Howell; daughter and son-in-law, Nan, and John Upchurch of Red Oak; son and daughter-in-law, Grady, and Harriet Howell of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Darrell Howell, James Taft Howell, Jacob Upchurch, and Jamie Upchurch, all, or Rocky Mount. Funeral services will be 1 1 a.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home, Sunset Ave. Chapel, with the Rev. Ross Davis and the Rev. Floyd Holmes officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. at the funeral home, other times at the home.
