Dorothy “Dot” Parker Collie, 86, went to her final resting place Monday, October 2, 2017. She was born March 28, 1931 in Nash County to the late Eddie and Alice Eason Parker. Dot graduate from Nashville High School. She worked as a supervisor for Summer Grade Decorative Pillow division for approximately 20 years. She would then begin another career at Inco Inc. Construction Company as a receptionist for 25 years. Dot taught Sunday School, even as a teenager, most of her life. She was the last Charter member of Vicks Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church, now Faith Family Worship. Dot was a devoted Bible student, always desiring to learn more and pass on to others. She also served as a Notary Public for many years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles O. Collie, her son, Robin Collie and, several brothers and sisters.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Harriet Collie Baker, brother, Deleon Parker and wife Connie; grandchildren, Charles Baker and wife Lacey, Michael Baker and wife Mary Katherine, Kimberly Martin and husband David; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 6:30-8:00 PM at Cornerstone Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 6, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home with Rev. Rueben Batchelor and Rev. Gerald Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
