ROCKY MOUNT – Christine Vick “Teeny” Joyner, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020. Born in Nash County, NC on September 1, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Carl Napolean Vick and Lena Denson Vick. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Lynwood Joyner; two sisters; and three brothers.
Teeny was a loyal and devoted wife to her one and only true love, Lynwood Joyner, for 41 years. She was a compassionate, selfless, and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Teeny was also a faithful and obedient servant to God and his only son, Jesus Christ. After marriage, Teeny started a nursery and bed & breakfast for a growing family and numerous friends for 70 years. Although she was never a Rotarian, she exemplified the motto of Rotary – Service Above Self. She enjoyed friends, family, bridge, her book club, and serving at First United Methodist Church.
Teeny leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons, Lyn Joyner and his wife, Marianne, of Rocky Mount, Carl W. Joyner and his wife, Gail, of Greenville, Alan Joyner and his wife, Phyllis, of Winterville, and William Tim Joyner of Rocky Mount; her six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; her brother, Donald R. Vick of Rocky Mount; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, 100 S. Church Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27804, with Rev. Jim Bell officiating. A Private Family Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM prior to the funeral service at the church.
