Benjamin Thomas Phelps
September 18, 1888 ~ September 11, 1966
Benjamin Thomas Phelps, 78, died Sunday.
A native of Nash County, he was born Sept. 18, 1887, son of the late William Thomas and Lutecia Jenkins Phelps.
A resident of Rocky Mount for 68 years, he was retired from Burlington Mills.
Survivors include is wife, Mrs. Adna Bradshaw Phelps of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Lena Hewett of Rocky Mount, Mrs. Ruby Cole and Miss Elsie Phelps, both of the home; two sons, Troy L. of Rocky Mount and William T. of Roanoke Rapids; one grandchild; one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Johnson Funeral chapel. The Rev. Fred Scott will officiate. Burial will be in Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
Palbearers will be Alton Breedlove, Lee Debol, Wright Proctor, Preston Moore, Edwin Ricks and Kermit Perry.
