Benjamin Christopher Young

ROCKY MOUNT – Benjamin Christopher “Chris” Young, age 66, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018. Born in Charleston, SC on April 5, 1951, he was the son of the late Dr. John Perry Young and Evelyn Hedgepeth Young. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Ben and Willie Hedgepeth.
Chris was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He served in Vietnam on the USS Roosevelt. Chris was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.
Chris leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife of 44 years, Dianne Rogers Young; daughters, Heather Young Funk (Paul), and Hollie Young Landwher (Robert). He is also survived by grandchildren, Molly, Madison, and Jack Funk, and Katelyn and Karlie Landwher; sisters, Connie Young, Winkie Young, and Bette Hund; and brother, Jack Young.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 331 Hammond Street, Rocky Mount with Father Tim Meares officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
A Wake will be from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM prior to the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. A Eulogy will be given at 10:45 AM in the Church.
