GARNER – Anne Mehle Jones, age 96, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024. Born in Nash County, NC on January 23, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Joseph George Mehle and Katherine Schreiber Mehle. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Katharine Mehle Coons, Rose Mehle Ricks, and Mary Mehle Fitzpatrick; and her brothers, Francis Joseph Mehle, James Joseph Mehle, Paul Joseph “Pete” Mehle Sr., and William Joseph “Bill” Mehle, Sr.

A devout Catholic, Anne was a life-long member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church where she was a Cantor and sang in the church choir for over 30 years. Anne began her full-time career in banking with People’s Bank as a teller and remained as both a full-time and part-time teller with both Centura Bank and RBC Centura Bank until her retirement after over 30 years. Later in life, she and her husband, Robert, moved to Garner to be closer to their children and grandchildren and became a member of St Mary Mother of the Church Catholic Parish of Garner. In her spare time, she especially enjoyed watching tennis and little league baseball and spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply. Anne was blessed with a loving personality and a welcoming smile. Her sense of humor and genuine sweetness always made those around her feel comfortable and at home. A dedicated and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and dear friend to many, Anne will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Anne is survived by her husband and love of her life of 64 years, Robert Lee Jones, Sr.; daughter, Lee Anne Jones; son, Robert Lee “Bob” Jones, Jr. and wife, Jessica; grandchildren, Lilly Jones and Merritt Jones; special friend of the family, Bill Allen; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members; and dearest friends.

A Funeral Mass to celebrate Anne’s life will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 331 Hammond St., Rocky Mount, NC 27804, with Rev. Paul Nicolas Cottrill, V.F. officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
