Alton C Moss

Alton Cecil Moss, Sr. died Wednesday, July 26, 2006. Alton was born January 22, 1940 in Edgecombe County. He was the son of the late William Pell and Mentie M. Moss. Alton serves in thee Air Force. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Elks Lodge where he was a past exalted ruler. Alton will be remembered by his warm personality and his contagious laugh. He was a loving, caring granfather. He was happiest when surrounded by those he loved.
Alton is survived by his wife of 33 years Barbara Jordan Moss; two daughters and sons-in-law Kimberly M. Jernigan and husband Chris of Elm City, Lou Lynn M. Griffin and husband Donnie of Jacksonville, Florida; one son Alton Cecil (Butch) Moss, Jr. of Rocky Mount; one stepdaughter and son-in-law Gina W. Allen and husband Denny, two stepsons and daughter-in-law Scott Williams and wife Dawn, and Lee Williams all of Rocky Mount; one sister Josephine Barnes of Rocky Mount and 11 grandchildren. Alton’s six grandsons will serve as pall bearers.
Alton is preceded in death by sisters Ruth M. Wood, Carolyn M. Vick, Teresa M. Roberson, Lillian M. Bateman, Christine M. Joyner, and Estelle M. Pitt; two brothers Pell Moss and Gene Moss.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 28 at Bowling Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Bowling Funeral Home on Saturday, July 29 at 11 a.m. Pastor Steve Webb will officiate at the ceremony.
