Mrs. Windy Sue Williford O'Bryant

ROCKY MOUNT – Wendy Williford O’Briant, age 71, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2026.  Born in Nash County, NC on December 15, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Edward Williford and Rachel Davis Williford.  She was also preceded in death by her son, John O’Briant and her brother Wayne Williford.

Wendy was a devoted wife, mother, gammy, and someone who poured her heart into caring for those she loved most.  While her husband, Michael, worked, Wendy faithfully managed the home and embraced the countless responsibilities that came with raising a family, always making sure every detail, from school events to everyday moments, was cared for with love and attention.  She loved the Lord and lived out that love through the way she served others.  Wendy had a creative spirit and found great joy in sewing, crafting, quilting, and collecting porcelain dolls.  She even enjoyed making dolls herself, a reflection of her gifted hands and artistic heart.  She had a special love for cats and treasured simple joys in life.  Her grandson, Johnny, was truly the apple of her eye, and she cared deeply for him.  Wendy also looked forward to family vacations each summer, especially trips to the beach where she loved feeling the sand beneath her feet and spending time swimming and making memories with those she loved.

Wendy is survived by her husband of 51 years, Michael O’Briant; her daughter, Ashleigh O’Briant; her grandson, Johnny O’Briant; and her special friends, Rick and Debbie Chilton, and Lydia Gifford.

A Graveside Service to celebrate Wendy’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Pastor Tony Russ officiating.  Visitation with the family will follow the service at the graveside.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Wendy’s memory to Memorial Baptist Church, 5399 Old Wilson Road, Rocky Mount, NC  27801.
