ROCKY MOUNT – On Monday, May 4th, 2026, God in His omnipotent power called our beloved Father, Brother, and Uncle, Geobie Stallings Jr. from labor to rest. Geobie affectionately called Uncle G was born on April 10, 1933, in Franklin County, NC to the late Gladys Fogg Stallings and Geobie Stallings. After relocating to Newport News, Virginia, he attended Huntington High School. At the age of eighteen, he enlisted in the United States Air Force on October 3, 1951. He spent many of his military time in Suffolk, England. There he met and married, Anne Thortington. From this union his son, Palmer Stallings, was born. After leaving England, he served at Minot, Air Force Base, ND. He retired as a Staff Sergeant, on November 1, 1971. He later relocated to Rocky Mount, NC, where he has resided and lived for the last fifty-five years, living and enjoying the countryside community.
Uncle G was an avid Bible Study reader, and he spent most of his later years studying God’s word, saying he might not attend a building, but he knew the man, that made the building. His zeal for study and learning led him back to school, where he had attended Nash Community Tech School and North Carolina Wesleyan University.
Uncle G. was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys Stallings Engram, and Geobie Stallings, Sr., sisters, Lena Smith, Elnora Bullock Clay, Mary Hopgood Johnson, and brother Paul Engram Jr.
Geobie leaves to cherish his memories, his son Palmer Stallings, of Suffolk, UK, sisters, Ann Harris, of Hampton, VA, Bertha Cardwell (Chico), of Winston Salem, NC and Rogerline Williamson, of Hampton, VA. His aunt Pauline Ferguson of Newport News, VA. He also leaves to cherish his memories, his special nieces and caregivers; Diane Bullock of Maryland, and Belinda Bullock of Hampton, VA; his driver and caretaker, Joe Hamiel of Rocky Mount, NC.; along with several other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
