Mr. Craig Kent Leggette

Craig “Kent” Leggette, 73, of Rocky Mount, passed away on March 4, 2026. Born July 15, 1952, he was the beloved son of Irene Leggette and the late L. Nelson Leggette.

Kent was a devoted husband for 34 years to his wife Margaret “Peggy” Leggette until she passed away in 2023. Kent lived a life marked by kindness, and a deep love for the people around him. Known throughout the community as “the medicine man,” he spent many years delivering medicine for local drug stores. Later, he continued his work with Lowe’s Home Improvement and at Salvation Army

Kent was a devoted member of First Christian Church, where he served faithfully as a Deacon. He also gave his time to the Salvation Army, always ready to lend a hand where it was needed most. Music brought him joy, but nothing meant more to him than his family.

Kent is survived by his mother, Irene Leggette; his children Timmy Land (Claire), Mark Land (Pam), John Lindsey (Jennifer), Darlene Williams (Larry), and Margaret Sharpe (Scott); his brother, Lathan Leggette; his sister, Terri Winchell; 15 grandchildren; 22 great‑grandchildren; 3 great‑great‑grandchildren; one niece, Amanda Sehic and one great‑niece; Cassandra.

Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his wife Peggy and one son, Gary Land.

A Graveside Service will be held at 3 P.M. on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation will follow at the cemetery.
