Resided in: Lakeland, Fl

Macie Elizabeth Davis Lewis was born on November 28,1933 in Kings Mountain, NC to Rassie Lee Davis and Lucy Foster Davis. Macie, known as “Betty”, served her life in ministry. First, alongside her father, Rev. Rassie Davis, beginning at age 14, playing the piano in Church, and later alongside her husband of 68 years, Rev. A. E. Lewis.

She was truly a servant of the Lord. She always gladly served the Church playing the piano, organ, teaching Children’s classes, leading Women’s Groups, coordinating events, conferences, and camp meetings. She was an excellent seamstress beginning at age 16. She kept extensive handwritten lists of names and addresses of every person in the Churches they pastored. She loved music. She always marveled at God’s Creation. She enjoyed nature and always admired how God had created so much beauty, in music with just 7 notes, and only 7 colors in the rainbow, the shapes, and sizes of leaves, flowers, trees, etc. She always stood in awe of how great God had been to her. Her favorite saying was “God blessed me with the best Daddy who was a preacher, God blessed me with the best husband who was a preacher, God blessed me with the best son, and God blessed me with the best son-in-law, all the men in my life have been so wonderful to me.” Her children rise up and called her blessed. (Her husband also praised her and always called her his own “Miss America”). Today, we “Give her the fruit of her hands; And let her own works praise her in the gates.”

Macie is predeceased by her parents-Rassie Lee Davis and Lucy Foster Davis; siblings, Moffett DeLloyd Davis, and Marie Davis Wright all of Kings Mountain, NC, Her husband, Allen Earl Lewis; and 4 children – JoAnn Lewis, twins Wayne & Charles Lewis, and Cathy Lynn Lewis.

Macie is survived by her son Edward D. Lewis (DoVina), of Elm City, NC and her daughter Donna Sue Smith (Ronald), of Lakeland, FL.

A visitation will be held at 1:00pm -3:00pm on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. The graveside service will be private.
