Jerry “Allen” Hodges Obituary

Jerry “Allen” Hodges age 66, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 10, 2025. He was born in Nash County on November 2, 1958 to Carlton Edward and Beulah Sherrod Hodges, both of whom preceded him in death.

Allen is survived by his brother and guardian, Garry Hodges (Janie) of Rocky Mount; sisters, Kathryn Drake, Betty Sanders Mercer (Steve) of Rocky Mount, Lois Hodges Moss (caregiver) of Nashville and Rebecca Hodges Lambert of Godwin. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends to cherish his memory. Allen was also preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Hodges and George Hodges and sister, Sherry Hodges Clemmons.

Allen was a people person who never met a stranger and once Allen talked with you, he never forgot you. He always loved being with “a whole bunch of family”, especially during the holidays. To know Allen was to love him. He had an infectious smile and  loved stretching his neck and telling everyone “I tall man”. One of his favorite hobbies was washing cars and loved getting “car wash stuff” for Christmas. He enjoyed going to church and singing loudly and clapping his hands in worship, showing his love for Jesus. He had a big heart and cared for people; if you were sick he would lay hands on you and pray for you right where you were and ask Jesus to heal you. Even with his mental challenges, Allen was smart in many ways. He could tell you where every car was from by the license plate going down the highway and when your inspection sticker was out. A true light, Allen will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
