Gary Allen Young

Gary Alan Young, 68, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016. He was born in Duplin County, August 20, 1947 to the late Robert Lee Young and Jennie Hollingsworth Young. Gary was a U. S. Army veteran, and he loved his family. Gary was a humble man who loved his family and friends immeasurably. He would give his family and friends the shirt off his back. He was a man of few words but when he spoke what he said was worth hearing. He spent countless hours working on and off the job and enjoyed every moment. Gary was a giving soul; he added much and took little. Gary Young will truly be missed. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by a brother Billy Young and a sister Kitty Woodcock.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Iris Young; son Scott Young (Stephanie); daughter Lisa Taylor (Jeremy); grandchildren Emma Gray Taylor and Andrew Taylor; brothers Ronald Young (Kaye) of Nashville, Glenn Young (Geraldine) of Rocky Mount and sister Earlene Jackson of Rocky Mount.

A service to celebrate his life will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Cornerstone Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Bossolono and Pastor Daniel Moss officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.

Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice in Gary’s memory.
