Spencer Morris Turner

ROCKY MOUNT– Spencer Morris Turner, age 92, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. Born in Wilson County, NC on December 11, 1930, he was the son of the late Wiley Ervin Turner and Effie Marie Viverette Turner. He was a US Army veteran and served in Japan during the Korean War. Spencer was employed by Sears and retired after 31 years of service.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Hazel Parker Turner; his brothers, Edwin McClees, Ervin Wayne, and Milton Earl; and his sister, Betty Jean Snyder.

Spencer is survived by his son, Glenn Turner and wife, Theresa, of Rocky Mount; his grandson, Jason Matthew Turner and wife, Shannon, of Raleigh; his great-grandchildren, Miranda Mae, Olivia Hazel, and Owen Scott Morris, all of Raleigh; his sister, Joyce Sherrod, of Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.

Spencer was a long-time member of Parkwood Baptist Church. His quiet nature and his assurance in his Christian faith was an inspiration to all that knew him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor John Scott officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM prior to the service in the parlor of Johnson Funeral Home.
