Ronald Wayne Thurman

Ronald Wayne Thurman, 68, passed away April 11, 2020. He was born July 6, 1951 in Lunenburg Co, VA to the late Ernest Thurman and Eura Coleman Thurman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Melvin Lee (Pete) Thurman and Aubrey Allen Thurman (Shelby). Although life was hard at times, he found a second chance at love when he met Peggy and her children. He loved his church and his family dearly but above all he loved the Lord. He was a great painter for many years and he truly loved fishing with his buddy, Joe.

Ronnie leaves to cherish his memory, his sweetheart of 41 years and beloved wife of 27 years, Peggy Adams Thurman; his beloved step children, Early Hopkins Jr, Michael Hopkins (Carolyn), Kimbley Hopkins Arnold (David), who lovingly referred to him as “Papa”; son, Danny Thurman; daughter Tonya Thurman Gardner; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters, Virginia Bell, Nancy McGuire, Linda Brown, Barbara Bruton, Deborah Julian; and a host of friends and family. A special thanks to Community Hospice for their devoted care.

Following the CDC guidelines, a visitation will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at Evangel Christian Fellowship 1421 Graham St. Rocky Mount, NC. The funeral service will follow at 12:30pm with Rev. Ricky Forkum and Rev. Jean Arnold officiating and special words from Michael Hopkins. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
