Jewel Watkins Thomas

TARBORO – Jewel Watkins Thomas, age 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 7, 2023. Born in Sampson County, NC on January 3, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Mangum Watkins and Elizabeth “Lois” Blackman Weeks. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Kenneth Ray Thomas; her sisters, Joyce Jones and Betty Lou Price; and her brothers, Charles Watkins and Selby James Watkins.

Jewel is survived by her daughters, Brenda Overton Bogaz and her husband, Victor of FL, and Vickie Bulluck and her husband Phil of Battleboro; her son, Kenneth “Frog” Overton and his wife, Brenda of Tarboro; her grandchildren, Tracy S. Clark, Jennifer Jewel Daniels and her husband, Brad, John W. Bailey and his wife, Denise, Philip Bradley Bulluck and his wife, Christy, Selby T. Bailey and his wife, Shanna, and Storm Overton Coleman; her great-grandchildren, Robert Andrew “Drew” Clark, Spencer Coleman, Zachary Joe Clark, Casey S. Clark, Kathryn “Katie” Grace Bulluck, Caroline Elizabeth Bulluck, Gretchen Victoria Daniels, and Noah Bradley Daniels; her great great-grandson, Brayden Andrew Clark; her sister, Kay Fisher; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service to celebrate Jewel’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Pastor Gary Wood officiating. Visitation with the family will immediately follow the graveside.
