Elsie Johanna Terry, age 102, of Rocky Mount, NC, former of San Leandro, CA, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. Born in Mayday, KS August 23, 1914 to Henry Christian Rothlisberger and Martha Louise Koplin. She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Walter Terry, Sr.; a brother, Alvin Rothlisberger; a sister Louise Wymore.
She is survived by her sister, Gladys Pearson of Evans, CO; step-son, Walter Terry, Jr. and wife, Sandy, of Rocky Mount, NC; grandson, Scott Terry and wife, Sandra, of Rocky Mount, NC; granddaughter, Alicia McGill and husband, Thomas, of Atlanta, GA; granddaughter, Deborah, of Rocky Mount, NC; nine great-grandchildren; special nephews and nieces, Gary Pearson, wife, Martha, of Dallas, TX; Douglas Pearson, wife, Elaine, of LaSalle, CO; James Pearson, and wife, Michelle, of LaSalle, CO; and Jennifer Dorman and husband, Bob, of Greeley, CO.
Mrs. Terry was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Rocky Mount, NC. She was a member of Association Retired Federal Employees (NARFE); member and secretary of the Army, Navy Women’s Club on Alamedra CA; member of Fairmont Hospital Service League of Oakland, CA. A former member of Epsilon Signa Alpha Sorority Beta Chapter in Denver, CO., Elsie was a graduate of Greeley High School; graduate of Denver Beauty Academy, Denver, CO.; graduate of Campbelle Business College, Greeley, CO. Elsie was employed with several departments of the Government during WWII; office of Price Administration at Denver, CO. and transferred to Washington, DC and was employed with the Department of Commerce; Reconstruction Finance Corporation and to Federal Aviation Administration and retired with the FAA. During her retirement she traveled and enjoyed many cruises with her husband. Elsie enjoyed life with family and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 433 Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount with the Pastor Alice Curl officiating. Entombment will follow at The Chapel on the Hill Mausoleum at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM prior to the service.
