Grady Lee Smith, Sr.

Grady Lee Smith, Sr., age 74, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on February 5, 1947, he was the son of the late Elijah Ruffin Smith and Minnie Clara Joyner Smith. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Katherine Catlett and Letha Rowe; his brothers, Troy Ruffin Smith and Coy Smith.

Grady was a man of Great Faith; he was a Pastor at Grace Freewill Baptist Church. His life was filled with happiness, love, and a strong spiritual devotion to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He loved farming, bluegrass music and working on his tractors. He was a loving family man, and cherished his time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Grady is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Little Smith; his daughters, Jennie Smith Webb (Stephen) and Autumn McLaughlin (Sean); his son, Grady Lee Smith, Jr. (Haley); his grandchildren, Summer Faith McLaughlin, Winter Hope McLaughlin, Sean Patrick McLaughlin, II., Olivia EvaMarie Webb, Isabel RoseMarie Webb, Stephen Elijah George Webb and August Kindred Smith; his brothers, Shelton Smith and Floyd Smith; and many nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service to celebrate Grady’s life will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Pastor Mike Renfrow officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday September 16, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
