Obituary for Jerrdin Henry Sherrod Sr.
Jerrdin Henry Sherrod, Sr., 81 passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, August 22, 2017. He was born December 20, 1935 in Nash County to the late Tommie and Bettie Boone Sherrod. Jerrdin loved his family and served in many roles including the US Air Force and West Mount Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years. He Joined the West Mount Ruritan Club in 1976, with a 31 year perfect attendance; he served as Vice President in 1977 and President in 1978. Jerrdin was a member of West Mount Baptist Church, serving in many areas including, deacon and Sunday School Teacher. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Williams Sherrod; brothers and sisters, Beulah, Mary, Elgie, Earl and Curtis, Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memory; one son, Jerrdin Henry Sherrod, Jr. and wife Brenda; two daughters, Sandra Sherrod Young and husband John, Laura Sherrod Coppedge; three brothers, Oscar (Sassy), Hassell (Becky) and Wesley Sherrod (Betty); one sister, Mabel Purvis; eleven grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren.

Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, August 25, 2017 from 6:30-8:00 PM at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home with Rev. Wray Wheeless officiating. Entombment will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Mausoleum.
