Wesley Leon Shearin, 42, died June 18, 2004, after an extended illness. He was born in Edgecombe County May 16, 1962, son of Walter Leon Shearin and the late Shirley Daughtridge Shearin. He was a volunteer fireman for West Edgecombe Volunteer Fire and Rescue.
Mr. Shearin is survived by his daughter, Cheyene Taylor Shearin of Red Oak; his father, Walter Leon Shearin of Rocky Mount; sister, Kim E. Shearin of Rocky Mount; brothers, Phillip Scott Shearin of Rocky Mount, Benjamin Todd Shearin and wife, Sheri Langley Shearin of Greensboro; nephews, Jonathan Landis Smith, his wife, Casie Hires Smith and daughter, Riley Eva Smith, all of Rocky Mount, Joshua Logan Smith of Rocky Mount, Ryan B. Shearin of Nashville and W. Lee Shearin of Greensboro; nieces, Jordan Lara Smith of Rocky Mount, Jennifer B. Shearin of Nashville, Hannah E. Shearin of Greensboro and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A gathering to celebrate his life will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at Johnson Funerals and Cremations, Sunset Avenue, Rocky Mount with the Rev. Raymond Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Johnson Funerals and Cremations Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.
In accordance with Wesley’s wishes, the family requests that donations be made to West Edgecombe Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 2793, Rocky Mount, NC 27801 in his name or flowers will be accepted.
