Lula Baker Robbins

Lula Baker Robbins, 77, died Wednesday. The funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Johnson Funerals and Cremations, 1912 Sunset Ave., Rocky Mount.
The Rev. Jim Robertson and Rev. Ronald Flood will officiate at the gathering to celebrate her life. Interment will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
Born in Nash County on Oct. 21, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Hugh Denna and Sallie Williams Baker. Robbins was a retired clerk with the U.S. Postal Service and a volunteer at Nash General Hospital. She took a special interest in sports with her grandchildren and loved baseball and shopping. She was a member of Sharpsburg Baptist Church.
Robbins was preceded in death by her brothers, Hugh and Marion Baker and sisters, Bertha Doles, Annalee Lucas, Dena Lancaster and Sallie Brown.
Surviving are her husband, Robert I. Robbins of the home; daughters, Martha Joyner and husband, Wayne, of Bethel and Peggy Peppenger and husband, Allen, of Sharpsburg; son, Dena Robbins and wife, Shelley of Sharpsburg; grandchildren, Lisa Finch of Rocky Mount, Tony Joyner and wife, Lynda, of Las Vegas, Nev., Michael Cooper and wife, Patricia, of Elm City, Patrick Robbins and wife, Marsha, of Sharpsburg, Steven Robbins and Robbin Peppenger, both of Sharpsburg; great-grandchildren, Megan Finch and Cameron Finch, both of Rocky Mount, Lauren Joyner of Las Vegas, Nev.; and a sister, Betty Avent of Atlanta, Ga.
The family will receive friends this evening at the funeral home and other times at the home.
