James Carlton Proctor

James Carlton Proctor, age 88, passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2018. Born in Nash County, NC on June 20, 1930, he was the son of the late James Arthur Proctor and Viola Rimmer Proctor. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Edith Livesay Proctor; and brother, Kenneth Earl Proctor.
James was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served from 1950 to 1954. He grew up and worked on a farm. He also worked at Phillips Fibers until his retirement. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend and will be dearly missed by all those who knew.
James leaves behind to cherish his memory, sons, Carlton Gregory Proctor of Rocky Mount and Winston Glenn Proctor and wife, Keturah, of Rocky Mount; and daughter, Terri Dawn Proctor Bilotta and husband, Vincent, of Hilton Head, SC. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Maria Nicole Bilotta of Columbia, SC; brothers, Robert “Bobby” Glenn Proctor of Rocky Mount and George “Lindsay” Proctor of Merrit Island, FL; and sister, Jean Marylynn Harris of Savannah, GA.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Englewood Assembly of God, 2181 S. Halifax Road, Rocky Mount, with Pastor Gerry Blood officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
