Helen Newsome Pridgen

ROCKY MOUNT– Helen Newsome Pridgen, age 86, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023. Born in Edgecombe, NC on January 21, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Henry Clay Newsome and Annie Thomas Newsome. She was also preceded in death by her husband Roy Pridgen; her sisters Rebecca Townsend, Doris Gerlinger; and her brother, Atlas Newsome.

Helen loved gardening and always had beautiful flowers in her yard. She will be deeply missed. Helen made a difference in the life of everyone who knew her and she leaves behind a tremendous legacy of life, love, and laughter.

Helen is survived by her brother, Madison Newsome (Nit), of Wilmington; her sister, Jewell West, of Richmond, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express a special thanks to her caretaker and best friend, Joyce Williams.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Rev. David Proctor officiating. A visitation with the family will follow the service at the graveside.
