Margaret Garvey Pittman

Margaret Garvey Pittman, 82, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2001, at Nash Grove Manor in Nashville. She was born September 20, 1918 in Washington County, NC, to the late Paul H. and Lillie M. Barnes Garvey. Margaret was a charter member of North Rocky Mount Church of God, where she taught Sunday School. She was a weaver for Burlington Mills. She was preceded in death by a son, Melvyn Earl Pittman.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, K. Earl Pittman, of the home; one son Jerry Pittman and wife, Becky, of Rocky Mount ; one daughter, Lynn P. Bell and husband, Jack, of Jacksonville; two sisters, Geraldine Mitchell and Marilyn Edwards, both of Norfolk, Va.; nine grandchildren, Kent Pittman, Allen Pittman, Gine P. Blackwell, Mark Pittman, Dean Pittman, Kelly Pittman, Lisa Bell; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, August 31, 2001 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at Bowling Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Jerry and Becky Pittman, 5864 Tar River Cove, Rocky Mount. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 1, 2001 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Bowling Funeral Home with the Rev. V.G. Robertson and Rev. Ellis Martin officiating.Burial will follow in Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
