Millard Buck Pitt

OCKY MOUNT – Millard “Buck” Pitt, age 79, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on March 28, 1938, he was the son of the late Charles L. and Annie Belle Griffin Pitt. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles D. “Pete” Pitt.
Known by all his friends as “Buck” he graduated from West Edgecombe High School and was a member of West Edgecombe Baptist Church. In 1962, Buck opened Wholesale Paint Center, Inc. in which he operated until his retirement. A faithful husband, loving father and grandfather, and a good friend to many, Buck will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
Buck leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 59 years, Marjorie Worsley Pitt of Rocky Mount; daughter Cheryl Pitt Hawkins and husband, Tommy; and grandson Hunter Hawkins all of Sneads Ferry.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at 3:00 PM at West Edgecombe Baptist Church, 13821 NC-43, Rocky Mount, NC 27801, with Pastor Jeffery C. Chappell and Rev. Billy Webb officiating. A Private Family Burial will be held on a later date at Pineview Cemetery. The Family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Buck’s memory to West Edgecombe Baptist Church, 13821 NC-43, Rocky Mount, NC 27801.
