Henry Lee Pierce

Henry Lee Pierce, Sr. went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, July 6, 2004. He was born in New Hanover County, March 23, 1923, son of the late James Arthur and Lucy Ann Mathis Pierce. is sister, Elizabeth Rose and a brother, L.G. Pierce preceded him in death.
Mr. Pierce was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Louise Barnes Pierce of the home; daughters, Margaret (Marge) Nicholson of Rocky Mount, Erma Jeean Braddy of Hobgood; sons, Henry Lee Pierce Jr. of Rocky Mount and Larry Pierce of Wilson. Also, a sister, hazel Lois Kennedy of Rocky Mount; brother, Clifton EugenePierce of Rural Hall; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two half-sisters and four half-brothers.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm today at Johnson Funerals and Cremations, 1912 Sunset Ave., Rocky Mount, and other times at the home. A gathering to celebrate his life will be held at 2 pm Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Clarence Correll and the Rev. Clifton Lewin officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
