Ricky “Rick” Patterson, age 71, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, June 2, 2023. He was born on September 11, 1951 in Edgecombe County to Claude and Peggy Hoggard Patterson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Susan Davis Patterson; mother, Peggy Hoggard Patterson and mother and father-in-law, Jasper and Loleta Kennedy Davis.

Rick grew up in what was commonly referred to as “Williford Town” and attended Williford School, Benvenue School and graduated from Northern Nash in 1969. He joined the National Guard and served 6 years from 1969-1975. Rick knew from a very young age, maybe 6 or 7, that he wanted to be a painter. He worked for a short time for Alan Mims Ford and Crest Ford before his employment with Ferebee-Bishop Signage from 1971-1990. Rick’s dream was to work for himself and did so from 1990 up until about two weeks of his death.

Rick was a hard worker and believed that everyone should use the talent that God blesses you with. He enjoyed rebuilding and restoring hot rods, antiques, old signs and basically anything that needed a new coat of paint. Rick loved the Lord and was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was always eager to share the “good news “ of Jesus Christ.

He is survived by a loving family including his father, Claude M. “Mick” Patterson of Rocky Mount; sister, Denise Patterson Stone (Ted) of Spring Hope; niece, Dr. Alexandria Stone Luper (Cameron) of Nashville; aunts, Winnie Petway of Marion, Carolyn Hoggard of Rocky Mount and Mary “Puddin” Hoggard; and uncle, Rudy Hoggard (Molly) of Marion.

A service will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 2:00PM at Calvary Baptist Church, 505 S Englewood Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:30PM. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park, 4454 Dortches Blvd., Rocky Mount, NC 27804
