William Lewis Odom Sr.

ROCKY MOUNT – William Louis Odom, Sr. (Bill), age 84, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018. Born in Nash County, NC on October 9, 1933, he was the son of the late Margaret Estelle Odom Jordan. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Groves Odom, and son, William Louis Odom, Jr. (Billy).
Bill served his country during the Korean War, during which time he received the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He was discharged with the rank of Corporal. After serving his country, Bill devoted his career as a sales representative for the auto industry. He was a life time member of the Edgemont Baptist Church where he also served as a Deacon.
Bill leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughter, Donna J. Odom, Rocky Mount; Larry and Anita Odom, Rocky Mount, Vicki and CB Evans, New Bern, Rhonda and Eddie Woltman, Rocky Mount and numerous cousins and friends whom he adored.
A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Keith Griffin officiating. Burial will follow service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
