Ronald Gray Lewis, 65, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2011. He was born February 8, 1946 in Nash County, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Mittie Lewis; brothers, Yoman and William (Bill) Lewis.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Manning Lewis; sons, Ron (Jenny) Lewis, Brad (Stephanie) Lewis; grandchildren, Maggie and Sammy Lewis; brothers, Donald (Peggy) Lewis, and Randolph (Hope) Lewis.
Ronald served in the Navy from 1965 to 1969 on the USS Saint Francis out of San Francisco. His tour of duty was during the Vietnam War era. After returning to the stales, he worked for the City of Rocky Mount for 18 years. He was a licensed N.C. State electrician and ran his own electric company for 19 years.
Ronald loved the time he spent with all his family and friends. He especially cherished his time with his two grandchildren who he saw and played with daily.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm Friday, September 16, 2011 at Johnson Funerals and Cremations on English Road. A funeral service will be held Saturday, 11am in the Chapel of Johnson Funerals and Cremations, 661 English Road, with the interment following in the Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Military Honors.
