BATTLEBORO – Myrtle Adassa Dean Kennedy, age 75, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017. Born in W. Indies, Jamaica on May 23, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Hubert Sirjue Dean and Charlotte Bailey.
Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Known to many as Myrtz, Myrty Byrty, Ma, Nana and Mycle. Myrtle was a strong individual. She and her husband, Patrick came to the US in 1968 to prepare a place for their three daughters. Over the years she made sure the family had everything they needed to be successful in life and even in her own unique way, instilled a sense of ownership and purpose in her daughters. An ambitious lady, she worked and retired from Lenox Hill Hospital after 25 years of service. Living in New Jersey for 10 years, Myrtle and Patrick decided to uproot and enjoy their retirement years together in North Carolina.
Myrtle leaves behind to cherish her memory, husband of 56 years, Neville St. Patrick Kennedy; daughters, Marika Kennedy-George and husband, Allan; Andrea Kennedy-Harris and husband, Kim; and Karen Kennedy-Giannatasio and husband, Anthony. She is also survived by grandchildren, Michael George, Matthew George, Danielle Harris, and Isabella Harris; brothers, Winston Sirjue of New Jersey and Cleveland Sirjue of Florida; and sisters, Jean Sirjue of Wilson, North Carolina; Rosemarie Sirjue of New Jersey; and Vinnette Sirjue of W. Indies, Jamaica.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 331 Hammond Street, Rocky Mount with the Father Tim Meares officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon prior to the service at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
The family would like to thank UNC Chapel Hill Hospital and Asera Care Hospice for their dedicated service in caring for Myrtle.
