Cleveland “Earl” Joyner, 87, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021. He was born November 10, 1933 in Wayne County to the late John and Vara Sutton Joyner. Earl loved his family, black and white westerns, cooking a good pig, railroad work, a good BBQ joint, pickin’ cotton, and country music. He was a member of the Rocky Mount Shriner’s Club for 40+ years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a beloved son Scott Joyner, and granddaughter Brittany Ann Joyner; seven brothers Elbert, J.O., Leverne, Billy, and Tom Joyner, Ebbie and Jackie Creel; a sister Pashia Sutton.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 65 years Margaret Joyner; son Larry Joyner (Cindy); daughter-in law Elizabeth Joyner; sister Johnnie Ann Hughes; grandchildren Christopher, Austin (Chelsi), Brittan and Dawson Joyner, Ashley Joyner Jennings (Chad); great-grandchild Scott Jennings; many special nieces and nephews including Robbie and Tommy Joyner; two brothers in law Linwood Grant (Nancy) and J.B. Grant. Special thanks to his caregivers Samantha Battle and Linda Nicholson.

Visitation with family and friends will be Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 1:00-1:45PM at Cornerstone Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home with Pastor Tommy Joyner officiating. Entombment will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
