Doris Pitt Johnson, age 72, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 24, 2020. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on March 11, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Archie Pitt and Mary Christine Pollard Pitt.
Doris retired from Poyner & Spruill LLP in Rocky Mount with 25 years of service. A woman of great faith and a servant’s heart, she loved serving the Lord in the mission work at West Edgecombe Baptist Church helping others and did it well. Doris enjoyed the beauty in caring for her garden, the same care she gave to her family through the years. Above all, her most cherished memories will be those spent with her grandchildren. She was a very active and faithful servant who loved her family, her church family, her friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Doris is survived by her husband of 41 years, Kermit “Rudy” Johnson; her daughter, Maria Johnson Judge and husband, Harry, of Greenville; her grandchildren, Wyatt Edward Judge and Audrey Marie Judge, both of Greenville; her sister, Margaret Ellen Pitt Prout and her husband, Lloyd; her niece, Deidre Prout, all of Winston Salem; and numerous cousins.
A Graveside Service to celebrate Doris’ life will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Chapel of Memories Mausoleum with Rev. Billy Webb officiating.
