Kennon E. “Ken Jackson, 64; passed away Friday, December 28, 2007. Ho was born February 21, 1943 in Durham County son of the late Kennon Elijah Jackson and Rachel Davis Jackson. Ken was a member of Corinthian Lodge 230 and Red Oak Baptist Church. He graduated from Campbell University and received his Master’s Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was the Dean of Continuing Education at Nash Community College for over 30 years. Ken enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing at the beach.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Betty Dean Mosley Jackson; daughter, Kristie Jackson Wallace of St Petersburg, Florida, Susan Jackson Hedgepeth and her husband Scott of Red Oak; son, Kennen Elton Jackson, Jr. of Durham; sister, Karen Jackson Hudson and her husband, Leroy; grandchildren, Haley Dean Hedgepeth, Fisher Scott Hedgepeth, Davis Nicholson Hedgepeth and Jennifer Nicole Wallace and several nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his brother, Karlton Jackson.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2007 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Rev. Rucker Burnette and Rev. Jim Upchurch officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
