Sue Resico Irwin

ROCKY MOUNT – Sue Resico Irwin, age 92, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on August 20, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Neil Edmond Resico and Nannie Ethelene Smith Resico. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Donald “Don” Phillip Irwin; her brothers, Neil Edmond Resico, Jack Resico, and Carl Resico; and her sisters, Mary Rose Viverette and Rachel Resico.

Sue and Don owned and operated “Ye Olde Fish Market” in Rocky Mount for 20 years until their retirement in 1994. She was a dedicated member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Wilson. Sue was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother, and friend, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Sue is survived by her son, Donald Phillip Irwin, II and wife, Sadie; her daughters, Debbie Thorne and husband Archie, Dale Ellis and husband, James, Pamela Webb and husband, Glen, and Dana Abdelhadi and companion, Rafael Rohaym; her 14 grandchildren; her 21 great-grandchildren; her 8 great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A Private Family Graveside Service to celebrate Sue’s life will be held Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Father Tim Mears celebrating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Sue’s memory to Baptist Children’s Home of NC – Kennedy Home, 2557 Cedar Dell Lane, Kinston, NC 27504 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
