Margaret Barnes Holland

Margaret Barnes Holland, age 91, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022 Born in Nash County, NC on November 16, 1930, she was the daughter of the late George Barnes and Estelle Joyner Barnes. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Holland, and her two sisters.

Margaret was a member of the Red Oak Baptist Church where both she and her husband sang in the church choir. In her younger years, she worked as a beautician’s assistant until deciding to devote her time to raising her children and caring for the family home. Margaret was always an amazing cook and was something she took great pride in. A dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, or “nannie” as she was so coined, great grandmother, sister, and dear friend to many, Margaret will always be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Margaret is survived by her daughter Pamela Hollard Joyner and her husband, Robert, of Cedar Point; her son William “Bill” Holland and his wife, Anne, of Kill Devil Hills; her grandchildren Jonathan Michael Joyner and his wife Paige, Richard Jennings Joyner, Joshua William Holland, Allison Rose Holland, and Zoe Eliza Holland; her great grand-daughter Taylor Elizabeth Joyner; her nine brothers and sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

A Private Family Service to celebrate Margaret’s life will be held at a later date at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Cemetery.
