Mavis "Wanda""" L Higson

Wanda Higson, age 64, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2015. Born in Robeson County, NC on December 6, 1950, she is the daughter of Mavis Whitley Lanier and the late Earl Lanier. She was also preceded in death by her son Chadwick Higson.
Wanda was a loving mother and wife who was very supportive of her family and loved by everyone who knew her. She worked as a legal librarian with Poyner Spruill LLP and was a Sunday school teacher at Sandy Cross United Medthodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her special friends, especially the Ya-Ya’s. She loved gardening and working with her flowers and always looked forward to her visits to the beach.
Wanda leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Bill Higson of Elm City, her daughter, Ashley Higson of Wilson; her son , Brandon Higson of Elm City; four brothers, Eric Lanier (Melanie), Keith Lanier (Jennifer), Mitchell Lanier (Bonnie) and Phillip Lanier (Thom).
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Reverend Eric Lanier officiating. Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00PM. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
