Sherry Gay Hawkins

Sherry Gay Hawkins, 30, died Thursday, March 16, 1995.
She was born Feb. 28, 1965, in Nash County, daughter of Thomas L. and Louise Rooks Gay. She was a 1983 graduate of Southwest Edgecombe High School and a 1985 graduate of Nash Community College. She received a Batchelor of Science Degree in Nursing from East Carolina University in December of 1994. A registered nurse at Nash General Hospital, she had been accepted into the nurse anesthetist programs in Raleigh and Norfolk.
Surviving: husband, David S. Hawkins, Jr.; step-daughter Stephanie Hawkins of Rocky Mount; parents, Thomas Lee and Louise Rooks Gay of Rocky Mount; sister and brother-in-law, Rhonda Gay and Lloyd Turner of Rocky Mount; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home, Sunset Ave. Chapel, with the Rev. Kenneth Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm today at the funeral home or other times at the home.
