June Marie Whitman Harris

June Whitman Harris, age 62, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021. Born in Nash County, NC on November 22, 1958, she was the daughter of the late David and Anna Leigh Carpenter Whitman. She was also preceded in death by her nephew, Michael Whitman; her aunts, Ruth, Katie, Mavis, Betty Lou, Pearl, Maxine and Thelma; her uncles; Redman, Smiley, Alton and Payson.

June enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She loved singing and every kind of music. She found the most joy spending time with her daughter and grandchildren, they were the apple of her eye. Family was everything to June and she made sure they knew how much they meant to her. She was known for having to have everything match, clothes, earrings, nail polish all had to match. Late night talks and Slushie runs with her grandkids was a must for her. June was a member of Corinth Baptist Church, Nashville. June will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all who knew her.

June is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Ann Connie of Concord; her grandchildren, Kiara Sanders and Tavian Bullock; her brother, Danny Whitman and his wife, Patricia, of Nashville; her nephew, Matthew Lawrence Whitman of Nashville; her niece, Rachel Vaughan and her husband, Chris, of Rocky Mount, her great- nieces, Riba and Allianna Vaughan; her aunts, Roselle Tyson, Rochelle Whitehead, Eleanor Howell, Inez Cooper; her uncles, Truman Carpenter and his wife, Myrtle, Raven Carpenter, Eugene Whitman; and many friends.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Rev. Kenneth Cobb officiating. A visitation with the family will follow the service at the graveside.
