Joseph "Ray" Harper, Sr.

ROCKY MOUNT – Joseph “Ray” Harper, Sr., age 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, August 26, 2022. Born in Nash County, NC on April 10, 1937, he was the son of the late Garland Woodrow Harper and Lucy Irene Driver Harper Fisher. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Patricia “Pat” Clack Harper; his brother, Jackie Harper; and his sister, Louise Brantley.

Ray is survived by his children, Joseph “Joey” Ray Harper, Jr. and wife, April, of Red Oak, Martin Lee Harper and wife, Joyce, of Denver, NC, Linwood Harper and wife, Susan, of Rocky Mount, and Sandra Harper Fuller and husband, Tim, of Anderson, SC; his grandchildren, Jeffrey Harper (Donna) Mandy Harper (Travis) Ashley Lanham (Charlie) Meghan Harper (Tim Angelis), Tyler Fuller and Tonya Adams; and his great-grandchildren; Summer Waltz, Ralph Fike, Jr., Emma Fike, Grace Harper, Abigail Harper, Charlie Harris, Lily Lanham and Zoey Lanham.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Ray’s life will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022, at 3:00 PM at Benvenue Baptist Church, 2464 Benvenue Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Dr. Michael Creekmore officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. A visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM prior to the service in the Sanctuary of Benvenue Baptist Church.
