Gordon Byron Griffin

Gordon Byron Griffin passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 2nd, 2017. He was born on July 4th, 1924 to the late Gordon and Alma Griffin of Nash County.

Gordon was an avid golfer for years and a past member of Benvenue and Birchfield Country Clubs. He also served in the United States Navy during WWII.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son Christopher Griffin, sisters Frances Griffin and Tempie G. Booth, and son-in-law Bob Oxendine.

Gordon is survived by his wife of 69 years Ermine Perritt Griffin, his dear sweet daughter Deborah G. Oxendine, grandson Michael Griffin and wife Mercer, granddaughter Sara G. Houston and husband Lee, great grandchildren Riley and Ashley Houston as well as Stirling and Christopher Griffin, daughter-in-law Susan W. Griffin, brother Odie Griffin and wife Judy, sister Louanne Griffin, and special caregivers Sharon Arrington and Tiffany Advest.

Private graveside military services are planned with the American Legion Post #110 of Nashville officiating. Arrangements by Heritage Oaks Funeral and Cremation Services of Rocky Mount.
