John Andrew Anderson Gifford, Jr

SPRING HOPE – John Andrew Anderson Gifford, Jr., age 65, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022. Born in Bristol County, MA on November 4, 1956, he was the son of the late John Andrew Anderson Gifford, Sr. and Mary Leona Medlin Gifford. He was also preceded in death by his partner, Linda Griffin.

Blessed with the gift of working with his hands, John was a talented carpenter. He began his career in woodworking in 1976 by starting his own carpentry business, Creative Woodworks, which he owned and operated until 1997. He had also worked as a cabinet designer with Lowe’s Home Improvement from 2000 until 2008. In addition to his carpentry work, John also briefly worked for Pilot Life Insurance Company in the 1970’s. A loving brother, uncle, and dear friend to many, John will be forever loved and missed.

John is survived by his sister, Susan Dean; his two brothers, Danny Gifford (Robin) and Timothy Gifford (Tasha); his nephews, Brandon Gifford (Morgan), Zackery Dean (Lacey), and Bobby Dean (Amy); his niece, Kristen Gifford (Tony Alexander); and his great nephews and nieces, Bryant, Brantley, and Riley Gifford, Kellan and Deacon Dean, and Madden Alexander.

A Graveside Service to celebrate John’s life will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022, at 3:00 PM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Rev. Carlton Cockrell officiating. A visitation with the family will follow the service at the graveside.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John’s name to the American Cancer Society for Pancreatic Cancer Research, 930 B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834.
