Evangeline Futrell

ROCKY MOUNT – Evangeline Futrell, age 88, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2020. Born in Alberta, VA on September 24, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Claude Kitchen Futrell and Lucy Aycock Futrell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Melton Ivan Futrell; one sister; and five brothers.

Evangeline was a member of West Edgecombe Baptist Church where she graciously served in many functions, including choir member and pre-school Sunday school teacher. She was a very active and faithful servant who loved her family, her church family, and her many friends. Evangeline cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Evangeline leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters, Debra Ackerman and husband, Ken, of Cary, and Beth F. Smith and husband, Chad, of Rocky Mount. She is also survived by grandchildren, Elaine Ackerman of Willow Springs, Rosanna Stubblefield and husband Richard, of Hockley, TX, and Kenneth Ackerman and wife, Ramona, of Hillsboro, OR; great-grandchildren, Justin, Lily, Jaden, Rebekah, Eva Clair, Chase, and Christopher; brother, Basil Futrell of Waynesboro, VA; and many nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
