Obituary for Mary Edna Dickens
Mary Edna Dickens Dickens, 99, went to her eternal home in Heaven July 25, 2016. She was born in Nash County, June 7, 1917 to the late Benjamin Dickens and Sarah Ella Laughter Dickens.
She is preceded in death by her husband Mark Lee Dickens, 1 sister, Mildred Dickens Pavelka , 2 brothers, Vernon Dickens and Allen Ray Dickens and a dear nephew Johnny Pavelka.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Mary Leigh Dickens Oliver (Dan) of Elm City, Ella Rae Dickens Jones (Richard) of Rocky Mount, 4 grandchildren, Debbie Oliver Moss of Red Oak, Penny Oliver Serad of Nashville, Danny Oliver of Nashville and Jackie Rae Farmer of Rocky Mount. 9 great grand children, 8 great great grandchildren, nephew Phil Dickens of South Carolina, great nieces and loving cousins.
Special friends: Lawrence Johnson, Jack Wilkes, Faye Taylor, Henry and Dianne Lewis, Jeanette Pittman Allen, Evelyn Wilson, Vivian Davis, Pat Moyano, Mary Warren and many others.
Mary Edna was a dedicated mother along with being a devoted nurse for 40 + years. She showed care and compassion to everyone she met and loved to witness about her love for the Lord. Her favorite quote was Ask in Prayer, Believe It and Receive it. She enjoyed making crafts with her hands and was such a blessing to all.
The family will receive visitors at 1 pm Thursday, July 28,, 2016 followed by her Homegoing service at 2 pm at Cornerstone Funeral Home in Nashville, NC with Pastor Jerome Mozingo and Reverend John Guyton officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
