Grafton Ingram Cockrell

Grafton I. Cockrell, 76, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2020, after a long lengthy illness with Parkinson disease. He was born in Nash County on May 3, 1944 to the late Grafton Thomas and Emily Ann Collins Cockrell. He was also preceded in death by his son Jeffery Paul Cockrell.
Grafton was a member of First Baptist Church of Rocky Mount NC. Due to his health he wasn’t able to attend for several years.
Grafton retired from Consolidated Diesel Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. The most memorable trip was to the Holy Land.
Grafton leaves to cherish his memory, wife of 33 years, Evelyn Cockrell; daughter Michelle Graybeal (David) of Wilson, NC. He is also survived by his twin granddaughters, Kamryn and Sydney Graybeal whom he loved very much. To them he was PaPa; Stepchildren Lisa Crumpler (John) of Nashville, Jimmie Harvey (Amy) of Rocky Mount, and Mike Harvey (Friend Angie) of Rocky Mount.
Entombment service will be Thursday, May 7, 2020, 2:00 PM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park in the The Chapel of Memories with visitation to follow.
The family would like to thank family members for being there when you were needed, Kindred at Home and Community Home Care & Hospice. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Rocky Mount or the American Parkinson Disease Association.
