Grady Alvin Cockrell

CAPE CARTERET – Grady Alvin Cockrell, age 86, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023. Born in Nash County, NC on January 5, 1937, he was the son of the late James Paul Cockrell and Fannie Estelle Williford Cockrell. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James Glenn Cockrell; his sister, Wanda Robbins; and his niece, Cindy Robbins.

Grady is survived by his wife of 23 years, Elizabeth Turlington Cockrell; his sons, Grady Allen Cockrell and wife, Elizabeth, of Swansboro and Michael Eugene Cockrell and wife, Wendy, of Beaufort; his grandchildren, Kyle James Cockrell (Micheala), Scott Ryan Cockrell (Shaina), Zachary Michael Cockrell (Kelly), and Rachael Nichole Cockrell (Quint); his great-grandchildren, Sylas Jamie Cockrell, Peyton Lynn Cockrell, Ella Grace Cockrell, Riley Nicole Cockrell, and Madison Marie Cockrell; and his niece, Alicia Cockrell.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Grady’s life will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Floyd Turlington officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
