Lela Hilda Creekmore Carter, 95, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Village Care of King, NC.

She was born in Edgecombe County, NC, on August 22, 1928, to the late Cooper and Lela Morris Abrams. Hilda was a member of the Harvest Temple Church of God. She was a pastor’s wife at Shelby Church of God, Statesville Church of God, and South Winston-Salem Church of God. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Opie Creekmore, and husband, Rev. Gilbert F. Carter; brothers: Carl, Roy, Walter, Cooper, George, David, William, and Henry Abrams; sisters: Mavoneen Ownes, Elma Wass, and Thelma Garris.

She leaves to cherish her memory, son, James Creekmore (Jean), two sisters: Mary Elizabeth Stallings and Hazel Worrell; two grandchildren: April Holton (Mike), and Jamie Creekmore (Kristin); two grandchildren: Hailey Ramey and Hunter Ramey.

The family wishes to extend a special “Thank You” to all of the staff at Village Care of King, NC and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.

There will be a graveside service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park in Rocky Mount, NC on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 1:00 PM with Pastor Vic Robertson officiating.
